Abdulla A Naqi, MD is a fellowship-trained glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment surgeon with practice focus on the surgical management of glaucoma, complex cataract and intraocular lens complications. He is board certified in ophthalmology in Canada, He Also holds the Diploma of the international council of ophthalmology (ICO). He is an active fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and he is the chairman of the scientific committee of the Emirates ophthalmological Society (ESO)

Dr. Naqi has been working with Dubai Heath Authority since 1998. He progressed in DHA ophthalmology department and became the head of the department from 2014-2016. During his leadership Dr. Naqi established the residency program in ophthalmology. He also moved the ophthalmology service in Dubai Hospital to become a tertiary care with subspecialties offered in the hospitals. He also established the community care ophthalmology section that is provided at the community health centers in Dubai. Dr. Naqi holds currently the role of the chairman of the medical council of Dubai Hospital.

Dr. Naqi Joined Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Center as the specialist ophthalmologist and spent 4 years (2010-2014) providing care to his private patients. During the time Dr. Naqi was instrumental in starting the ophthalmology operating room at the center.
Dr. Naqi Founded his own surgical day hospital on December 2013, Providing both out patient care and surgical intervention in a fast and economic fashion. The center now provides care to more than 10000 patients both national and international.

Dr. Naqi completed his education with 2 years Fellowship in Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery (GAAS) under the direct supervision of the world-renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Ike Ahmed at the University of Toronot, Canada (2007-2009) were he was exposed to most of the MIGS from their development stage.

He has performed thousands of procedures in the last 10 years in the field of complex cataract, anterior segment reconstruction, laser vision corrections and glaucoma surgeries. He has been invited to speak on both complex cataracts issues, refractive surgery and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).
By the time that she graduated from the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain in Medicine, she had realized that she wanted to devote herself primarily to pediatric medicine because of her love for children and the joy that she finds in caring for their health and well-being, especially their eyes. Arif O. Khan MD is Consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus and in Ocular Genetics at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and is Professor of Ophthalmology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Previously, until the end of 2015, he was Senior Academic Consultant at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Senior Scientist at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, also in Riyadh. Before he moved to the Gulf region in January 2002, Dr. Khan was in private practice in New York. Dr. Khan’s clinical and research interests are the management and genetics of ocular developmental disorders and strabismus. Dr. Gritz is presently a consultant specializing in cornea disease, refractive surgery, and uveitis at the Eye Institute of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (PAR). Previously, he was Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His initial tenure at the Wilmer Eye Institute was serving as Chief of the Cornea Division and Senior Academic Consultant at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Over the course of his career he has also been on the faculty at the Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Francis I. Proctor Foundation and the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Gritz’s training began at the University of Missouri, Kansas City’s six-year combined BA/MD program for his undergraduate and medical degrees. His ophthalmology residency was at the University of Texas, San Antonio Health Sciences Center and his clinical fellowship in cornea and uveitis was at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology and the University of California, San Francisco. He earned his Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr Arbabi is the Medical Director of the Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi. Francesco Pichi graduated summa cum laude from the Alma Mater Studiorum of the Univeristy of Bologna and went on to pursue his ophthalmology residency at the University of Milan under the mentorship of Prof Giovanni Staurenghi. He underwent a preceptorship in uveitis and ocular immunology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (University of Miami, USA). He has pursued a two years’ fellowship with Dr Careen Lowder at Cole Eye Institue (Cleveland Clinic, USA) in uveitis and ocular inflammations and infections, before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He has served as staff physician of retina and uveitis in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for 5 years, and as Ophthalmology Residency Program director for 1 year. He is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University and has to his credit more than 110 peer reviewed publications.
Dr Pichi He has authored 12 chapters in various text books and published a book on “Complications in uveitis”. He chaired the Research and Development (R&D) lead for the division of surgery in JCUH for a while and was the Ophthalmology representative for North East Local Eye Health Network (LEHN).

Igor Kozak, M.D., PhD, MSc. is a vitreoretinal surgeon and retina and ocular imaging specialist who specializes in introducing the newest technologies into clinical practice. He is a graduate of P.J.Safarik University in Kosice, Slovak Republic and has completed both vitreoretinal and uveitis fellowships at the University of California, San Diego. He also holds a master’s degree in clinical research from UCSD. He is currently a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon, Retina Division Chief and a Director of Research at the Moorfields Eye Hospitals in the United Arab Emirates. His clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, uveitis, and vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Miguel holds a Spanish Degree in Medicine from the Universitat de Valencia. He has been a member of “Surgical Eye Expeditions International” since 1999, an American non-government organisation that arranges eye camps worldwide. Dr. Miguel has assisted several eye charity camps in numerous countries of Africa, in addition to Peru, Panama and India, providing free eye care and performing surgeries to those who could not afford it in less developed areas.

Mohamed Sayed, MD, is an internationally recognised Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract, glaucoma, and anterior segment surgery in adults and children at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai in Dubai Healthcare City.
He has undergone advanced fellowship training in glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida, USA. He is one of a handful of specialists with dual training in these two subspecialties.
Dr. Sayed has more than 13 years of international experience in ophthalmology, working in major centers of excellence in Saudi Arabia and the United States. Before joining Moorfields Dubai, he worked for eight years in the United States, where he practised tertiary-level advanced glaucoma and cataract care and held the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. There, he trained residents and fellows on the most advanced surgical techniques. Additionally, he served on the clinical faculty of Florida State University.

Sheikha Dr Al Qassimi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University (MBBS).
She did her internship in Al Ain hospitals, then left to Cairo, Egypt to pursue her master’s degree in Kasr El-Aini.

as consultant ophthalmology. Dr. Waleed started a new role in October 2020 as the Medical
Director & Head of Glaucoma & Cataract Unit, Magrabi Eye Center, Al Ain, UAE
Dr. Waleed started his career in the ophthalmology field in 1996 as a resident in Suez Canal
University Hospital, Egypt. He received his master degree in ophthalmology in 2000 in field of
cataract surgery. He received advanced ophthalmology training from 2000 to 2005, concluded by
passing MD exams , and getting his PhD thesis in “Ocular changes after myopic LASIK” from Faculty
of Medicine, Suez Canal University, Egypt. His supervisor was the Refractive Pioneer Prof. Dr.
Karem Kolkailah. Dr. Ghobashy then moved to Knoxville, TN, USA to act as the clinical fellow of Dr.
Steven Sterling MD; the distinguished phaco refractive surgeon of East Tennessee 2005 to 2007.
Dr. Waleed Ghobashy then returned home to act as clinical lecturer and consultant of
ophthalmology in faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University. From 2007 till present, Dr. Ghobashy
did extensive research and clinical work in refractive surgeries, cataract, glaucoma, medical retina
and Electrophysiological diagnosis of ocular diseases, with over 30 published research papers in
many regional and international scientific journals, gained the title of Assistant Professor of
ophthalmology in 2014.
